Allison Transmission extends German service network and welcomes Wietholt on board

March 24, 2020

Allison Transmission has expanded its dealer network in Germany to provide vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators with nationwide customer service and excellent technical support. In January 2020, Wietholt Nutzfahrzeuge with locations in Dorsten and Rhede, North Rhine-Westfalia, became the latest member of Allison Transmission’s service network and offers an extensive transmission service for buses and trucks.

Sliedrecht – Allison’s fully automatic transmissions are used in a wide variety of truck, bus, military and specialty applications. In order to offer customers comprehensive transmission service on-site, Allison Transmission has expanded its network of authorized service centers in Germany. With the new member Wietholt, there are now a total of 8 service centers in Germany under the guidance of DGS Diesel- und Getriebeservice GmbH, in Mainz, the general agency for Allison Transmission. The Allison service facilities provide transmission maintenance, repairs and spare parts. They support vehicle manufacturers with special applications and offer training for all Allison fully automatic transmissions and hybrid applications.

With immediate effect, Wietholt will provide support to fleets with Allison transmissions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, and up to Hamburg. The company has extensive experience in maintenance and repair of trucks and buses. The Allison-service team at Wietholt is comprised of highly trained mechanics and technicians with special equipment. Customer service vehicles and maintenance trucks enable quick on-site response.

Up to now, Wietholt has been known in the commercial vehicle industry mainly as a dealer of DAF trucks and Van Hool buses. However, the company also focuses on special-purpose vehicles for municipalities, such as rescue, fire and refuse vehicles. Being an Allison service dealer, Wietholt is not dependent on manufacturers and brands but instead offers its transmission expertise for every make of vehicle with Allison fully automatic transmissions.

“With Wietholt Nutzfahrzeuge we have gained a renowned service partner who has known the industry for decades and with their assistance we can facilitate and strengthen our customer service,” says Stephan Marker, Market Developer at Allison Transmission.

Andreas Strotmann, CEO of Wietholt Nutzfahrzeuge, adds, “The collaboration with Allison Transmission is an ideal addition to our comprehensive service spectrum. Our workshop team has recently been intensively trained for Allison transmissions and is looking forward to the new assignment”.

Wietholt will work closely with DGS in Mainz. DGS has been the main authorized dealer for Allison Transmission in Germany for almost 40 years and plays a key role in supporting Allison-customers. DGS acts as a link between propulsion manufacturers, OEMs and end users, coordinating the Allison service partners in Germany and providing support for all of Allison’s transmission series.
